Itinerary
Explore one of the Altiplano’s most impressive burial complexes on the Sillustani Tour, a perfect cultural addition to your stay in Puno and Lake Titicaca. Set beside the peaceful Umayo Lagoon, Sillustani is famous for its mysterious chullpas—large funerary towers originally built by the Kolla culture and later used by the Incas. With your guide, you’ll learn about the site’s finely crafted stone architecture, burial rituals, and the Andean worldview linking nature, lineage, and spirituality. You’ll also have free time for photos and to enjoy the wide-open highland scenery and quiet atmosphere, making this an unforgettable afternoon of history and contemplation.
In the afternoon, we start with hotel pick-up in Puno and travel to the impressive Sillustani archaeological complex on the shores of Umayo Lagoon. Upon arrival, we take a guided visit of the chullpas, funerary towers originally built by the Kolla culture and later used by the Incas. Your guide explains the architecture, funerary rituals, and the Andean worldview, helping you understand how these cultures related death, nature, and ancestry. After the guided tour, you’ll have free time to admire the landscape, take photos, and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere around the lagoon. We then return to Puno, arriving around 6:00 p.m..
