Itinerary
Join the iconic Laguna 69 Tour—one of the most rewarding hikes in Peru’s Cordillera Blanca. This full-day adventure takes you north of Huaraz into Huascarán National Park, through the stunning Llanganuco Valley where glacier-fed lakes and high-Andean landscapes set the scene. After reaching Cebollapampa (3,850 m), you’ll begin an uphill trek that climbs steadily for about 3 hours to the unforgettable Laguna 69 (4,650 m), a bright turquoise lake framed by the dramatic peaks of Chacraraju and Nevado Pisco. It’s a challenging but deeply satisfying day for travelers looking for real adventure and postcard-perfect mountain views near Huaraz.
The tour starts between 5:00 am and 5:30 am with pick-up and departure from Huaraz heading north. Our first stop is at a local restaurant for breakfast, preparing for the high-altitude hike ahead. We then continue to the Huascarán National Park control point to complete the entrance ticket payment, and drive through the famous Llanganuco Valley, known for its Andean scenery and glacier lakes. We make a short photo stop of about 10 minutes at Chinancocha Lake, and we also pass by Orconcocha Lake (no stop—view only from the vehicle) before arriving at Cebollapampa (3,850 m), the trailhead. From here, we hike uphill on a zigzag trail for roughly 3 hours, steadily gaining elevation until we reach Laguna 69 (4,650 m), a spectacular bright turquoise lake sitting beneath the impressive Chacraraju mountain and backed by Nevado Pisco; on clear days, the snowcapped peaks reflect on the water, creating a classic Cordillera Blanca postcard. After enjoying time at the lake for photos and rest, we hike back down for approximately 2 hours to where the vehicle is waiting, then return to Huaraz, arriving at around 06:00 pm.
