Itinerary

Step into one of ancient Peru’s most mysterious civilizations with the Chavín de Huántar Full-Day Tour, a cultural journey that blends archaeology with dramatic high-mountain scenery. Departing from Huaraz, you’ll enjoy scenic stops such as Querococha Lagoon (3,980 m), known for its Andean setting and the geological fault said to resemble Peru’s map, and the high-altitude Cahuish Tunnel (4,450 m), one of the route’s most iconic crossings. The highlight is the Chavín de Huántar Archaeological Monument, where you’ll explore ceremonial plazas, the Portico of the Falconids, underground galleries, and the iconic Lanzón Monolith, along with the famous Stone Heads (Cabezas Clavas) and other remains that reveal the site’s powerful religious role. To complete the experience, you’ll visit the Chavín Archaeological Museum, home to key artifacts including the original Tello Obelisk.
